Somatic Experiencing

SE aims to help us release this trapped energy and restore our nervous system's balance and resilience. It does so by using a "bottom-up" approach, which means that it starts with the body sensations and works its way up to the thoughts and emotions.

By bringing awareness to our bodily sensations, we can gradually access and process the traumatic memories that are stored in our body, and discharge the excess energy that keeps us stuck in a state of distress.

Observed & Experiential Integration

OEI is a type of therapy that helps people process traumatic events from their past. OEI uses the visual pathways of the brain to integrate both hemispheres, which results in a reduction of anxiety and trauma symptoms.

OEI works by detecting and removing "emotional slivers" from the eyes, which are traces of unresolved trauma that affect how we see ourselves and the world. The therapist guides the client to cover or uncover one eye at a time, while following the therapist's finger movements with their eyes.

This stimulates the brain to process the traumatic memories and emotions in a safe and controlled way. OEI can help with a variety of issues, such as PTSD, phobias, depression, sexual assault, childhood abuse, eating disorders, negative self-talk, abusive relationships, and low self-worth.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

CBT is a practical approach that helps individuals identify and change unhelpful thoughts and behaviors. After a car accident, CBT equips you with tools to manage anxiety, cope with trauma, reduce avoidance, and improve your mood. By actively engaging in CBT, you can regain confidence, reduce emotional distress, and ultimately improve your overall well-being.

Eye Movement Desensization & Reprocessing

EMDR is supported by overwhelming research and our first-hand observations of clients successfully overcoming trauma validate EMDR as one of the most effective psychotherapies available today. Studies consistently show EMDR effectively treats a wide range of trauma-related conditions, including PTSD, anxiety, depression, and phobias.

By using bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements or tapping, EMDR unlocks the brain's natural ability to reprocess distressing memories, reducing their emotional intensity and allowing for a sense of relief and empowerment.

“Excellent therapists! Actively listen and provide practical solutions to address concerns rather than suggestions from textbooks. They genuinely care about their patients!I experienced tremendous growth in my 5 months with the service. Moreover, I see great breakthroughs and tips to learn and grow as a person.

The therapists are positive and supportive which allow myself to view things in different perspectives.

They are so validating and reaffirming of my emotions. I feel heard and understood during our sessions. I am extremely grateful how much patience they have for me. Lighthouse Counselling is highly recommended for those who are seeking mental health professionals! They are the spa for your mind! I would rate 100 stars but Google only allows 5.”

Daphne Cheng
Former Lighthouse Client

“My experience with Robert was very good. I was in a car accident and was having some rather heavy anxiety attacks after while driving. I found Robert to be very professional, empathetic and friendly And I felt very comfortable talking with him about my fears.

We were having face to face sessions as well as with FaceTime when my work schedule was not allowing me to meet up. I learnt how to control and understand my anxieties. Robert was teaching me techniques that I could use by myself when I was feeling anxious.”
